- Meeting Everyone’s Needs: Reverse Transfer Increase Graduation Rates
Ohio needs more college graduates. The brain drain has a significant impact on the economy of Ohio. We have an opportunity to begin correcting this problem. Students transfer to four-year institutions with good intentions and without a degree but may not follow through. Students take courses at the four-year school that would have enabled them to graduate from their original two-year institution. By granting degrees to students who have earned enough credit for a degree, but may have dropped out, stopped out, or require extended time to achieve a college degree; we increases graduation rates, increases employment and promotion opportunities, and encourages completion of a four-year degree.
Tri-C has developed a Reverse Transfer process that allows the student attending a four-year institution to receive a degree they have earned at Tri-C using courses from our regional partners.
Presenters: Muriel Robinson, Coordinator, Cuyahoga Community College
Dick Arndt, Director, Cuyahoga Community College
- Recruiting the Returning Customer: Understanding the Implications of Transfer Student Enrollment Behaviors with our “Stop-Out” Students

This presentation will review the key components of this program and will focus on our “stop-out” students’ transfer enrollment behaviors and how this affects recruitment efforts.

- ACE—evaluation of military credit
One major concern of military veterans returning to college is to ensure that their military training and occupational specializations are properly reviewed for possible transfer credit. Student and Academic Affairs professionals across all units should familiarize themselves with the evaluation process in order to ensure adherence to academic standards and to provide an expeditious review.
Since 1945, the American Council on Education (ACE) has provided a collaborative link between the U. S. Department of Defense and higher education through the review of military training and experiences for the award of equivalent college credits for members of the Armed Forces. A representative from the ACE Military Programs team will facilitate the workshop and make a presentation centered on Awarding Credit for Military Training and Occupation Experiences. The objectives are to:
- Increase the awareness, use, and benefit of the military transcript services (AARTS, SMART, and ACE transcript) in evaluating military training and occupational specializations.
- Impart a clear understanding of the evaluation review process in order to ensure academic rigor and timely decision-making.

Office Drama: How to DEAL with it!
Dave Sauter, Miami University
Back by popular demand…..Drama in the workplace can rival a theatrical performance. All eyes are glued to the stage – and stage-hands - instead of the work to be done. Does the office worker next to you arrive ready to pounce on the first piece of gossip and start laying blame on others? What can you do about the ongoing whiner that derails office productivity? What do you do if your supervisor is the drama king/queen? Come to a fun-filled audience participation presentation – with serious overtones – and share your real-life drama situations and solutions, as well as unsolved problems which continue to plague your work environments. Entrance to this “performance” will enable you to take on a persona of the worst kind for an hour!
